New York City Part One

The visit started in New York City.  I stayed with my friend Farrin in Queens and a few days later with friends Jena and Arun in Brooklyn.  First full day included a commuter train ride to Hicksville then an urgent taxi ride to Long Island University Post to be on time.  Was great to meet LIU faculty member Scott in person.  We had skyped a number of times. The presentation was good and we enjoyed our conversations and exploration of the Post family residence.

Next day was a quiet day, Farrin and I took the subway to Manhattan in the afternoon, visited Grand Central Station and then met friends for dinner. Sunday I borrowed Farrin's bike to explore Manhattan.  It was non stop wow!  I love to explore with a bike.  Certainly understandable why some might consider NYC as the only place to live.  It was a nice sunny Sunday in late October, lots of people enjoying the many public places.  What a day of urban bike riding - Stuyvesant Town, meandering along the East River bike path to lower Manhattan, inland to Washington Square, then Times Square and a longer visit to Central Park.

Monday was a shift in location.  Farrin commutes to Providence Rhode Island so time with Jena and Arun.  Jena, grew up at the end of a 6 mile long gravel road in the Arkansas Ozarks, now in NYC.  Another great bike ride, this time in Brooklyn to Coney Island and a meandering ride across a big chunk of Brooklyn returning to Jena and Arun's..

Next day, Tuesday, it was time to leave for New Haven.  Here is the next set of fotos.
