Place making involves several ingredients. First a public place. Second, the idea that public places can be beautiful. Third, people caring about where they live. Four, taking initiative to create something special. Place making can be in a range of scales and complexity. A city park is a form of place making. The Eiffel Tower is a large scale example of place making and so is the Washington Monument.
Place making here refers to a more personal or neighborhood scale and the place making being initiated by people who live near the place. The images here are mostly citizen projects with little if any budget, yet, still on public property with an important public benefit - creating value, care, even identity with where we live.
