Windmill 2040

Thanks to the gut wrenching decision to close the borders in 2024, Oregon, Washington State and British Columbia have  become known as Cascadia.
By 2040, Cascadia's population is a fifth of what it was BT, Before Transition. The rest of the former United States did not fare so well.  Many of Cascadia's and Eugene's neighborhoods are overgrown by vegetation, some have been salvaged for materials while others are thriving, in a Cascadian kind of way.

Cascadia feels peaceful, secure and optimistic; thanks, ironically, to a heavily fortified eastern and southern border. The comparatively successful Transition in Cascadia was made possible by a secret agreement at the highest levels of government back in 2024. How this all came about is an engaging story with lessons for the present.

Imagine having a unique vantage point for a close look into Windmill Co-op, Eugene and Cascadia, 2040.  Elder Naj will show you where he lives, explain how Cascadia come into being, what is the emerging new culture of Cascadia and who lives there.  Elder Jan will also recount the actions at home and in the neighborhood taken 30 and 40 years before, that turned out to be critical for surviving the Transition.
