A Primer for Paradigm Shift - Content here applies to both the Resilience and Zoom versions.
Paradigm shift is a timely adventure moving towards a more positive and uplifted present and future. It can be solo, it can be with others. The more people putting purposeful ideas and ideals into action in daily life for a healthy present and future, the better. No permission required.
The term paradigm shift refers to a major change in the worldview, concepts, and practices of how something works or is accomplished. In the sense here, it refers to our culture, economy, meaning and purpose of life. Scale is from personal to societal.
Paradigm shift is all about creating positive social, personal, environmental and economic alternatives to the dominant culture and economy we now have. One can create a substantial part of a preferred future in one's own life, home, neighborhood and community sooner than later. No permission required. The Primer advocates and explains why and how for moving towards a future where humans fit within the boundaries of the natural world and bringing out the best in positive human potential is a primary goal of society.
Capitalism as we know it values making money by promoting excess use of energy and resources [aka the consumer culture] above the well being of people and planet. Climate change, extreme social/economic disequity and lost positive human potential are the unavoidable products of a hardwired dishonest growth based economy. The System is not broken, what we see and experience is simply want it does. Paradigm shift can address a wide range of familiar problems all at the same time even at small scale in our own lives and with others. The more people, the greater the benefits.
There has never been a time in history when such a deeply mistaken economic system has created so many useful assets and opportunities to help bring about its own replacement. We deserve better, we are capable of better. There are many benefits to be gained by moving towards a thoughtful future and they far outweigh what we can leave behind.
Key words and concepts from the primer - deconstructing the mythologies of capitalism, social engineering - we live in a cargo cult, footprints and lifestyle, allies and assets, the wisdom of the world's great spiritual traditions, civic culture, prioritize time and money - the double benefit, taking PS to a wider audience. Capitalism - overdue for truth and reconciliation. The series will focus on positive and inspiring stories from Eugene, Portland, LA, Bay Area, Ohio, Houston, Syracuse, Missoula, Paris, Barcelona and more.
