Join us over the next few months for visits to homes and properties in River Road with various "green and resilient' features over the next few winter months. The visits will be casual, last about an hour.  One, maybe two visits per Saturday.

April 13 and 27  Eighteen years - Grass to garden, edible landscaping, depave driveway, 6500 gal rain water system, accessory house, garage into living space, south facing patio into passive solar, chickens, arbors and trellises, green house, water features

212 Benjamin, Site tour at 12:30

Following the site tour on April 27, at 1:45, will be a one hour presentation and discussion about "One Earth Lifestyles."  A one earth lifestyle would be close to incomprehensible to middle class America.  Very little driving, very little meat.  Very little buying appliances, clothes, consumer goods.  When does enough become excess? Do we prefer affluence or a habitable and peaceful planet?

We want to encourage/inspire people to take on these kinds of projects on their own homes and properties.  Some of the places we will visit are just starting to transform while others are anywhere from a couple years old to almost 20. Over the course of the visits, we will be seeing, at one stage of re development or other - grass to garden, edible landscapes, rain water catchment, solar design, natural building, front yard gardens, fences down between like minded neighbors, green houses, collaborations between neighbors, food forests and much more.

At each visit, the host will explain what they are doing and why, successes and challenges, benefits and more.

Important, the River Road Resilience Network [R3N] offers mentoring for those just starting to take on transforming their properties.  Among us, we have dozens of years of experience for many aspects of transforming suburban properties.  Contact Jan for more info.
