Moving a 3000 gallon water tank [empty]

This was a great project and example of low tech transport - at least from the front of my property to the back of my property, a distance of at least a quarter mile. No, my property isnt hundreds of acres, its only 1/4 but the tanks destination meant it had to come in the back way, across the back yard of my neighbor,,,,, this is what it looked like,,,,,

Nice to have a neighbor with a bob cat and forklift attatchment. As it turned out, we could have easily unloaded it with a ramp.

Putting it in its temporary location.

Destination for the tank, to be approached from the other side of the fence.

A bit further back.

Bill had this amazing two wheeled "dolly" adapted for the tank, like a giant spatula with wheels sliding under a giant plastic muffin,,,,, Ravi Logan on the scene and a passing neighbor takes interest.

Up on the dolly and ready to role. Housemate Matt ready to help.

Going down the street. Note - a good foto. Its the city to the left and county to the right. When the property to the left was annexed, they had to "upgrade" that side of the street to city standards, complete with GD streetlights and curbs and totally un necessary storm water. That did not cost the neighbors but its all an expensive eyesore.

Turning right on Horn Lane. The tank weighs about 400 lbs, empty. About 24,000 full at 3000 gallons. [ 11,000 +- liters]

Just passed Dharamalaya. Right turn up ahead.

These are flag lots. Destination, third house on the left.

Destination on the other side of the fence.

Rolling the muffin into place.

Cutting the fence.

Here it comes. It will be pivoted and will pushed up on the edge of the gravel bed and its own momentum carried right to the edge of the other side, pushing up a small wave of gravel. Nice!

Nice fit. Added to two other 1600 gallon tanks, this will make 6500 gallons of water storage. Plenty for my outdoor needs. The tank is polyethylene and food grade. The roof that will feed it is galvalume. Basic components of a future potable system.

The tank is in. Bill's choreography was flawless.

Tank in place. Given the size of the tank and modest catchment area, I figure the tank will fill with about 15 inches of rain.
