What is the Prom?

The Prom is turning a 3 mile chunk of bike path into a mix and mingle, people powered piazza. It invites creativity and participation. Its healthy, fun, and educational! It shows we can have a wonderful time close to home.

The Prom calls attention to this wonderful Greenway – a wildlife corridor, bike and pedestrian friendly and functional. Distant from cars.

The Prom wants people to know about the wonderful sites along the Greenway - Community gardens, playgrounds, environmental restoration, points of historical and neighborhood interest. Knowing about these places enriches our lives. Many sites are interactive – they provide opportunities to grow food, recreate, learn history and help restore the natural environment.

Finally, the Prom shows what a closer to home way of life might look like in the near future - A way of life where we are closer to home because its too expensive to go out of town and we will be looking to existing community assets to take care of more needs, such as food, exercise and creating a positive culture. We can create a healthy and peaceful way of life, the Prom is a hopeful preview. You can help make it happen. Please have a look at the info displayed on the barricade, there is much to make use of. Welcome!
