Steering Committee meetings are open to all to participate.

Notes for SC Meeting March 30, 2004 at 7PM Jan's house

Attendees: Jan, Steven, Ravi, Krista, Hanna, Bill

Bill was selected to take meeting notes. Thanks Bill for taking notes.

NAMING

Steven reported the results of the votes on naming the group and naming the web site. There was approx. 35 responses to approx. 45 mailed ballots.

"River Road Neighbors Network" was the winning name. This was discussed by the committee and decided that the name shall be thus.

"RRNeighbors.net" was the winning name for the website. This was discussed by the committee and decided that the name shall be thus.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Mission Statement as "The River Road Neighbors Network is a community organization with the purpose to promote the social, cultural, environmental, and economic well being of the neighborhood" was discussed. Issues of appropriate wording and the goal of a Mission Statement were discussed. It was decided that the current Mission Statement was generally appropriate and that the Mission Statement should stand as a working copy.

COMMITTEE CHECK IN

SOCIAL COMMITTEE

Although many social activities have continued to take place, the Social Committee itself has gone inactive and has been loosely tied together by Jan. It was mentioned that there needs to be social communications that do not only go through the website. Jan will see to it that a discussion and sign-up for the Social Committee occurs at the Pear Blossom Culture Fest on 4/3/04.

GARDEN COMMITTEE

The Garden Committee will hold meetings on the first Tuesday of the month.

COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

Communications Committee will need to regroup for issues such as privacy issues of name and email lists.

The meeting for Web Design planned for 4/1 was suggested for being moved to 4/8. Krista is to call Theresa to address this change of date. Krista is also to inform Theresa of the formal name of the web page so that Theresa can inform Wyatt so that he can create the page.

BRAT COMMITTEE

Business Research Attraction Team

It was discussed that the purpose of BRAT is to attract "organic" type businesses, coffee or tea houses, markets, etc. Interest in the RR area was shown by the owner of the Red Barn, Ruthy Bs, Amelia's (possibly putting in a tea house), and that Gavin at Sundance offers advice.

It was discussed that BRAT should write up their findings in summary form for input from the whole of the RRNN. Krista is to see that this is done by either herself or Martha.

Krista is to confirm to Jan that the next BRAT meeting is to occur 4/14/04 at Martha's house.

ALL COMMITTEES

All committees need to appoint a person to ensure that the relevant topics, information, and next meeting time date and location are on the website.

Meeting notes need not be lengthy or complicated.

All committees should strive to have a representative on the Steering Committee.

PEAR BLOSSOM CULTURE FEST

Basic info is on handout: 4/3/04 2:00 PM until Evening, 356 Horn Lane

Hang-out, Sharing, Performing. Bring food for share. Need tables. Jan to put note out on list for people to bring decor and accents. Bill to drop off Aluminum angle brackets to Dharmalaya.

Steering Committee Meetings are to be the last Tuesday of every month.
